Need Help With New Speakers For My Car

Going to install myself, I have friends who can help out if I get myself in any trouble.
yeah just get the head unit and subs. Read up more on proper techniques to install speakers in the meantime so when you do tackle it, you'll know exactly what to do to make any speaker set you throw in there sound great.

So this and call it a day? Sony MEX-XB100BT CD receiver at Crutchfield.com
Or get a HU and separate amp that add up to it's price?
I don't doubt what Jeff says is true about corolla's acoustics, but your budget is the problem. I think you'd be too invested with just that one purchase. Sounds like you're on a tight budget and it may be a while before you'd be considering new speakers, deadener, amp, etc. I would get a cheaper deck, decent amp and comps right off the bat. Watch the videos and threads suggested to you, have your buddies help you with door treatments and you'll be golden. For $80, this amp would also do you well:

MB Quart RA400.2 Reference Series 400W 2-Channel Amplifier

It'll really boil down to whether you can do the door treatments.

I could up my budget to $300. Will that make any big differences?
I don't want you to miss the point in all this. The debate isn't about whether the deck is good. I'm sure it is good, the problem is your budget and how that deck works into it. $230 is a big chunk of your budget. If you can get past some quirks with the clarion, it's a great unit. Jeff said it's hard to see the display in the daylight. The $110 you save can be used toward an amp and have some left over toward the speakers. He is right about the install, you'll need to treat the doors to make this investment worthwhile. You can even get some deadener if you're expanding to $300, just google how to apply it.

With my $250 budget I've decided to cut down my list to a HU and amp for now. Next I'll focus on sound deadening and a sub. Sound good?
So I've narrowed my choices.

1) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SCS26KE/ref=twister_B00W5XDVA6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

-or-

2) Receiver w/Bluetooth, NFC & App Remote - MEX-N5100BT Review | Sony Store U.S. - Sony US AND Amazon.com: Rockford R300X4 Prime 4-Channel Amplifier: Car Electronics

Which do you guys prefer?
Neither. I stick to the suggestions I've already made. RF stuff is overpriced, lower end Sony decks are also crappy. I'm not sure what your criteria for narrowing down was, but option 2 is not here nor there.

Oh didn't know that, thanks.

I'll thoroughly go over what you suggested again.

EDIT: I like the JVC and Hifonics amp combo. Good ratings too (That's big for me) But those component speakers state "Includes pair of 6 in. x 9 in. and 6.75 in. woofer tweeter installation plates" Aren't 6x9 speakers for the rear and wouldn't I need front speakers?

that lower end sony alternative is horrible. in comparison, if you notice all the bad reviews are about the lower end model of the sony. Very low pre-out voltage, no time alignment overall built less. I would not trust sony's lower end products. You can try out the clarion if you want and make a custom shade for it so you can see it during the day and get used to it and get an amp. Just keep things simple for now. I'd rather have a decent head unit with good pre-out voltage along with good EQ over a crappier head unit with a grossly overrated amp or a rockford amp that only does 10 more watts than the sony's internal amp. Also need at amp kit in your budget too regardless of choice. JVC would be fine if it had time alignment and more EQ bands but unfortunately it does not.
