Need Help With New Speakers For My Car

I'd go for this one:
Amazon.com : Clarion CZ702 CD Receiver with USB Control for iPod/iPhone : Electronics

Very good price, all the features, and Clarion makes excellent deck. $100 less than the sony, that can go toward an amp. I'm all for him deadening the doors, but I'm also for him actually having midbass lol
Stock corolla speakers actually have midbass once deadening is done. Spent a lot of time with all aspects on my corolla. Also installed that clarion for my buddy. I actually dont like it that much in general, lots of little things that just tick me off. Actually i hate it.

On a budget, something's gotta give. I'd still go for more power, deadening, and comps.

Here's the thing though, the stocks dont sound half bad on more power. Also the decks power will be able to power tweeters or 4 inch midranges in the future he will still have 3 pairs 5 volt preouts If he ever wants to piece together woofers and tweeters in the future.

I have no problem with him getting that deck, but I was being conscious of his budget and at $220, all he can get is the deck lol

10 band EQ, time alignment and an amp that drives his stock speakers well along with 5 pairs of preouts aint half bad. I wouldnt touch hifonics 2 or 4 channels though Shops at santa ana push them to customers and they sound like poo and weak like 4 clicks above head unit power.

A couple of things that **** me off with the clarion cz702

Amp guard feature, annoying as fk, goes off prematurely

lighting. Cant see sh*t on the screen during daylight Literally blind at all times looking at it, fking stupid

Obsure, not fluid controls on the menu navigation

limited crossover functions on the network mode

Is this the Sony deck you're talking about?
Yeah. He just doesn't like the Clarion deck lol Probably its user interface, Jeff?

Still sticking to what I said - Clarion deck, Pioneer TSD comps, and I'm sure we can find you a decent 2ch budget amp. Stock speakers may be decent, but we also pulled out decent speakers out of a mustang and replaced them with those...they're awesome and hard to believe they're under $100. They did have plenty of power going to them, but stock was no comparison to these. Jeff knows what he's talking about and we both help a bunch of our friends with the same stuff we're helping you with.

So two comp speakers in the front and leaving the rears stock. 2 channel would be all I need. I get that, but wouldn't I need more channels if I were to power the rear speakers and get a sub in the future?

I'd leave the speakers alone until you know how to probably make a good seal and baffle. Just switching out comps will make things worse. I swapped to JBL ms62 comps and it sounded worse than stock even amped with a cheap head unit along with improper baffling. As i said, if you want to actually get any good sound, you need to work on your install techniques. Every bit from sealing the door speakers off from the plastic panel of the cavity to deadening doors all made a good noticeable difference in improvement of the come's sound. Biggest improvement was getting a pioneer 80 prs hands down made the comps went from worse than flea market sound to oh my god level.

Rear speakers can be powered off the deck. If you really wanted to, you can get a 5ch amp and power everything with it, but you can't expect much out of the sub at that point, it won't be pounding too much. I'd recommend to do this piece by piece if you don't want to spend a chunk of money at once and get a separate amp for the sub when the time comes.

Okay yeah, since I'm limiting my budget to $250 for now. Best start would be to get a nice HU and amp, right? Or should I just stick with getting that $230 Sony deck that comes with the built-in amp? That's all step 1.

Step 2 would be subs.

Step 3 sound deadening or new speakers.

Just to confirm, are you installling this yourself or are you having a shop do it for you?
