Ok i just got this amp i'v been waiting for ,my setup is two ten inch l5 kicker d4ohm vc. and i just got this rubicon 1000w amp.each sub is rated at 450 rms 900 the pair so the amp should be pushing these things without a problem.I'v got 0 g wiring the big three and a yellow top optima.the problem i'm having is that i set the gains and this thing gets ******* hot i was listening to it for like 15 mts. then it hit protect.it slams with all its **** for a while then it gets really hot and goes into protect.i already tried alot of ****.also when im setting the gains do i have to have the remote all the way up then lower it after im done or vise versa?does it even matter if i have that dam thing connected? also when i turn it on the protect light comes on for like 3 sec. then it turns on.

This is a bran new set up? This happened to me on my L5, except mine was once you turn it so loud it goes to protect. My voice coil was bad, but this is not a subwoofer type failure. If the sub is playing at all volumes but is overheat fast i would say a resistor could of short. Or since u said its a new setup (i think) its a manufacture defect in the amp, aka bad component. This could also be cause by having your setting outawack, when your setting gain your knob should be all the way UP and it does matter. Because if u set it with the knob down then when you turn it up later you may clip. Make sure your setting you gain for signal voltage, whatever you HU may put out. Also make sure your sub lvl on HU is at max before setting, that way its puttin max voltage to outputs.

EDIT: What is your gain set to? Ex. 3 oclock

Very! And yea my setup is brand new. the way i set my gains was that i put everything flat on the hu, then proceeded to adjust the gains.as of right now i disconnected the remote bass nob, and set my gains like that, i found it was the same as having it up all the way.Is it ok if i leave it running like that? so far its not getting that hot, but its still really hot. another thing is that this amp is 1ohm stable, and i have it wired to 1ohm, and its kinda giving me the same problems the kicker amp would when i would wire it down to 1ohm, which wasnt 1ohm stable.

Amps get hot so thats ok. If amp goes into protect then u need to do what I suggested in my other post. My amp gets so hot u will burn ur hand but it never shuts off. Its called a heatsink and it pulls heat away from the internals so it will be hot by design.

i am patient b!tch and yea i cant figure it out thats why im on here.are u fuked from the head or something. go do something useful withurself and keep postin them lame *** pics on ur little thread fukin c^nt
