[QUOTE="JoshC, post: 7496947, member: 634938"] This is a bran new set up? This happened to me on my L5, except mine was once you turn it so loud it goes to protect. My voice coil was bad, but this is not a subwoofer type failure. If the sub is playing at all volumes but is overheat fast i would say a resistor could of short. Or since u said its a new setup (i think) its a manufacture defect in the amp, aka bad component. This could also be cause by having your setting outawack, when your setting gain your knob should be all the way UP and it does matter. Because if u set it with the knob down then when you turn it up later you may clip. Make sure your setting you gain for signal voltage, whatever you HU may put out. Also make sure your sub lvl on HU is at max before setting, that way its puttin max voltage to outputs. Helpful?
