Need help wiring components!

I've got a set of Alpine Type X component speakers. Right now, only the 6.5's are installed, and they are wired using the factory wiring. I've got 600hz bass blockers to keep any bass from going to them, but I've heard I need to wire the crossovers anyway...

Heres the system specs...

Type R 1022D sub, Directed 300/2 amp (Which is currently powering the sub), Type X 6.5's

I'm wanting to install the crossovers, but I'm waiting on another amp. Would it be possible to wire the sub AND the crossovers on the same amp? Would that still supply enough power to the sub? I've got an extra American Pro VS1405 600watt amp that I can use if I need to. I was waiting to purchase a better quality amp.

Will the bass blockers work for now? Can I power the crossovers off the 9825 alpine h/u i've got? What should I do?

so...from the head unit, it goes to 600 hz bass blockers, and then to a type-X woofer?

why wouldnt you use the passive crossovers that came with the comp set, and set the HPF from an amp or your HU?

BTW you'll be missing almost all the notes that the woofers are capable of. and also you are REALLY missing out by running them off the head unit. do yourself a favor and high pass them off of an external amp

Right now the 6.5's are running off the h/u... I haven't installed the bass blockers yet. I purchased them because the speakers we're getting too many low frequencies and it was sounding distorted/rattling my doors off. Would it be better to run the components off the Directed 300/2 and then run the sub off the 600/4? Or the other way around? I want to use the crossovers, but I saw the power/ground connection on each one and wasn't sure how to hook them up.

I can set the h/u to high pass? Or do I just set the amp for the comps to be high pass? Does each crossover handle a certain number of speakers? Like one crossover controls the driver side 6.5 and tweeter, while the other crossover covers the passenger side? Do you just split the power wire? Which power wire do you use?

PS I've never set up a set of components, let alone wired a crossover. It sounds great though, but I'd love to get the full use of it.

Are there any good sites that show how to hook up crossovers / components?

And should I run the 600/4 to the components and 300/2 to the sub? Or vice versa? And if I run both amps, will I need to upgrade the alternator, battery etc? I have a 95 dodge neon sedan.

Thanks.

Alright, so I think I've figured out how to wire the components... I'm not sure how to run it off the headunit... not sure what wires go where to make the crossovers work, so I'm going to run it to the amp...

Actually, if I we're to run them off the headunit, what wires go to the crossovers? Do the speaker wires go to the crossovers? And how would I tune it to not receive low frequencies?

Thanks.

run the speaker wire from the outputs of the 600/4 on HPF around 80hz, to the input of the crossover. from the crossoveer, wire speaker wire from the crossovers outputs (tweeter to tweeter) (mid to mid)

and yes one crossover per side, its not hard at all

Gotcha. So I guess I will use the 600/4 after all. Sounds good. I appreciate all of the help. So I really don't need to use the speaker wires coming from the headunit, right? I just run the speaker wire from the amp to the speaker, and it should work fine, right?

If you are using external amplification all you need is the RCA signal, which it sounds like you have already run.

Do some reading around here it sounds like you are flying a little blind with your install. It helps alot to just spend an hour or two reading what people are talking about or doing some searching. It feels a lot better to be confident with what you are doing conceptually so you can focus completely on the quality of the install.

Just my 2 cents.
