Hey jeff thats exactly how I have them hooked up right now and thought I did something wrong does feel like its about 300 rms coming out the subs. Not hitting hard at all. Dang looks like I need another amp any recommendations
Well with D2 subs, your limiting yourself to a lot of power that could have been had, even if you get a brx 2000, your still going to be seeing only 600ish watts a sub. Also to note, if your running 2000 rms on a stock electrical charging system, expect a lot of voltage drops that lead to blown equipment. You'll need to do the big 3 upgrade and upgraded battery if you want to safely run a 2000 watt system. Also even if you dont hear distortion, you never EVER want to max the gain on any amp AT ALL. after a certain point usually 65-70% the amp starts clipping even if you dont hear it.
you have 5 options.
option 1(cheapest): get another exact amp and wire each sub parallel to each amp so each amp sees 1 ohm impedance and should give you close to 1k rms each sub.
option 2: sell the autotek and get an amp that does power at 2 ohms. Like kicker zx2500, alpine mrp 2000, rockford 1500 bdcp. Can get expensive
option 3: buy a good amp that does 2k rms At half ohm. sundown sax2000, soundqubed 2200, crescendo bc 2000, lanzar opti series, etc. This can get really expensive because you'll need crazy electrical upgrades, but you'll be future proof for better builds.
option 4: sell your subs and get D4 subs that only need 600 watts or so to get loud. higher power numbers do not necessarily mean louder subs, it just means they can handle more power. There's guys with 8 inch subs on 200 watts that do 140 dbs in spl competitions.
option 5: build a better subwoofer box. Make a 1/4 transmission wave (t-line) box and the subs will get crazy loud with very little power. Takes up a lot of space though. Or a very good ported box would be fine too. I'm guessing you have a pre-made chinese cookie cutter sub box?
