Need Help Quick With 2500d

Ok so my 2500d just came in the mail this afternoon and I just got all the wires hooked up. Took forever cuz I did a run of 1/0 from the trunk to the yellowtop up front and it has dual grounds and power and all that but yeah it's all wired. Anyways, I go to hook the negative battery terminal back up and it sparks reaaaal big. I get it on and it's not sparking or anything anymore. So I turn on the car and turn on some music and only the speakers are playing. Orion isn't even on and I find out that I blew my 150 amp inline fuse that's in the distribution block.

I turn the car off and go to replace it with another one and right when I complete the circuit with the fuse it pops real big and melts one of the ends. Like there was huge amount of power going through it.

Now the fuse for the 300/4 is fine and it's branched off the same 1/0 that the orion is coming off of, so does that mean there's something wrong with the amp? I got it off ebay and don't exactly know the history.

Any help is helpful right now, let me know if you guys have had any similar problems please!!!

I've looked all over the place, but I can't find where the power wires are touching anything. there's obviously no short in the 1/0 from the battery to the power distribution block because the JL amp is working fine. So it's gotta be somewhere after the distro right? I'd go and take a picture of it but it's so messy as of now I don't think anyone would even be able to tell what's goin on to diagnose the problem.

Is there any chance that the amps ****ed up and it's an internal thing though?

Pretty **** positive I did. I'll go check just to make sure it wasn't some dumb mistake, but I know they're in the right spot. BRb

Well it turns out that a chunk of wire was hanging out from the bottom of one of the positive wires and touching a ground next to it. I just couldnt see it cuz it was against my back seat in the dark. It's all charred up.

How bad could this be for the amp? Would it just blow an internal fuse or is it gonna be fried? I haven't fixed it yet cuz I'm so tired from being sick today and workin on the car and runnin all the wires, I just really hope my new amp that I waited for for so long isn't blown allready.

Oh, and both times the fuses popped, the car was off so it wasn't getting full juice from the battery and alternator which is one good thing in this situation I guess.

amp should be alright, just fix it up and try it out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif btw there is no internal fuses on the 2500d

Hmmm, I think I remember reading a while ago about the no fuse thing. So how is the 2500d protected incase of a bad short like I had? That makes me really worried.

I cleaned up the wiring and went to replace the fuse only to find to my complete horror that I'm completely out of the fuses I need. I've been workin at this all night and was very much looking forward to going for a drive and experiencing the new power. But now apparently I can't unless there is some alternative to a fuse. I kinda wanna just stick a piece of remote wire or some other small wire in between the 2 fuse terminals and let her rip, but then again I don't because I'm ****ed if something in the wiring is wrong you know?

So does anybody know a safe alterternative to a fuse right now because I'd really like to get this finished up and have a listen.

Also, I had a 150 amp fuse for my jl 1000/1 before, what size fuses should I get tomorrow for the 2500d?

should have a 250-300 anl fuse on the 1/0 guage power wire. You could stick wire in the fuse holder to complete the circuit just to see if its working but i wouldnt keep it that way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well I have a 300 amp fuse right after the positive battery terminal on the yellowtop up front. But I should have a 300 amp fuse on the power wire just for the 2500d too?

I'm gonna go test it out real quick with some wire, I'm gonna flip out if it doesnt work though:pissed:

as long as you have the 300amp fuse after the batt youll be alright, for saftey purposes you should have distros (1/0 guage to 2-4guage) with 2-150amp for the distro:)

allright I'll buy some more 150's tomorrow. Thanks for that info.

Update time though. Amp powers on but the only sound coming from the sub is a high pitched ringing that is very quiet but gets higher and higher pitched if I leave it connected. Any idea what that is?
