Need Help on Subwoofer Choice

Hi,

I'm a novice as far a car audio goes and need some help. I've searched but haven't really found the answer to my question.

I'm adding a subwoofer to an old (1983) Porsche 911. These cars have very little space and are challenged as far as sound quality goes. I have the following already:

JVC AR-615 HU

Focal Access 6.5" components w/ seperate tweeters

JVC 65w x 2 amp

Kenwood 4x6 rears (not amped) which I don't even use

The system sounds very good (to me) yet lacks bottom end to fill out the music. I was hoping the 6.5" Focals would have been enough, but with the noise from the car and the engine while driving, they are not.

There is a small compartment in the front trunk that I'm going to add a subwoofer to. The enclosure will be about .23 cuft. I have an Alpine mono 150 watt x 1 amp that I am going to use.

I have been thinking about using either the Kicker CVT65 or the Rockford Fosgate P1S48. I'm not sure if I should use a 6.5" or 8" subwoofer. Both will fit in the space allotted. What would be the best option for bottom end fill?

Thanks for any advice.

Both the ones I listed above say they will work in a .2 - .3 cuft sealed enclosure. Actually the RF P1S48 says a .23cuft is optimum. My question is (I guess), what is the sound difference between a 6.5" and a 8" subwoofer?

I'm sure there is a tad more space somewhere, if you're willing to sacrifice it... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And regardless of what mid's you may have or get, it'll be quite the challenge to have a 2-way component handle its designed frequencies and normally sub-duty frequencies.

My vote goes to sub somewhere/somehow. 8", if possible.

If u have room around where the mids are u could possibly take a bose box out of a maxima door or one out of a BMW I seen a pair at the junkyard ima swipe for my honda of course I don't know if u have the room but it should help ur mids reach deeper

I was toying around with it last night. There is a cubby in the trunk (where the A/C evaporator and blower used to reside, it's now removed). People have mounted a box in this space and have had good results. There are direct vents into the cabin, so the bass will travel through the vents into the cabin and from what I understand it is better to have the bass coming in front of you rather than behind. (Or so I've read.)

I can fit an 8" subwoofer in the space with a .28 cuft sealed box. (I would be using the cubby itself as the box.) The doors are already packed with the 6 1/2" Focals, so there is no way I could do anything else with that.

Boston Acoutics G108 recommends a .3 cuft enclosure. So I'm thinking I could use this (maybe with some stuffing). The thing is, I already have an amp I want to use. It's 150w@4ohms and 300w@2ohms. The BA G108's are 200watt RMS and they come in single and dual coil. So do I under power the single coil with 150watts or do I over power the dual (parrallel wired for 2 ohms) with 300 watts?

Underpower. Your not looking to be loud and 150 will be enough for you. Im not saying 300 rms is loud but im just saying in your situation
