I just bought a 2001 audi A4 1.8t. I want to put my system in it. I have done many installs before but never on an audi ... but i have no idea where to start on this install. I dont know how to take out the factory head unit. and i dont know how to remove the pannels on the floor where the carpet meets the door(where you run the wires)never the less where to drill the firewall . I would greatly appreciate any advice on this. thank you

Under the back seatcushions there are some bolts; Pull 'em. Seat comes UP and out. That'll get you from the cabin to the trunk.

Along the passenger side rear there is some trim; With the back seats out you can pop it up, I'd suggest a pair of flathead screwdrivers. Poke around until you find the clips, and get on either side.

Same for the front, you'll need to wedge the trimpiece on the passenger front side under the dash open to feed your powerwire around and underneath the carpet.

I'll send a pic of the firewall hole I used.

The headunit comes out but first the center console needs to be pulled; There are screws on either side, a little below your knees if you're in the seat.

Mine didn't have any, but it looks like there might be plastic snap-on covers where the screws are.

Metra makes a mounting plate that'll fit fine.

The RCA and Remote lines can be fished through the console trim / carpet with a coathanger.

The trunk is easy enough, shouldn't have any trouble disassembling that.

doorcards; 4" speakers mount to the actual card, not the door. There is a screw on the forward edge, below the sideview mirror (in the area that is hidden against the dash when you close the door)

There's also one behind the interior door handle; If you look closely, you'll find a piece of trim where your knuckles hit when you close the door; That slides down/pops out, and is the main retainer for the doorcard.

there are also one or two along the bottom edge (in my a4, anyway)

It will be awhile for me to provide pics, I'm training a class for the next few weeks which limits my online time; but I'm sure you can wing it.

Check out audiworld as well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The doorspeakers are the worst design I've ever seen, for what it's worth. I had to fab a mounting plate because the stock mount is three screws and cockeyed.

Thanks again. I was looking at the firewall and it looks like it will give me problems...so those pics will come in handy. I plan on putting it in late next week like thursday so i f you can send the pics by then that would be greatly appreciated. thanks again for the help:)

yea man no problem this is where i got my dash kit and wire harness and the radio adapter which brought me to a total of 80 for everything... very good concidering that no one else makes a dash kit for where i live under 300 (because they said it had to be custom built or fabed). the cybe sounds like a busy guy so tell me how it goes for you and dont be shy to throw a few tips my way thanks
