Yeah I am using 8 myself.

It is kind of hard to answer a question about what gauge wire, without hearing what type of amp and sub he is using.

I ran 2 Type Rs on a Nine.1 with 12 gauge and had zero problems

I am using 8 becasue it looks pimp and ther eis no loss going to the larger wire. I can run smaller wire but some one big is sexy.

it all depends on how much power you have flowing through the wire, how long the wire is, etc.
