the woofer just makes a really dull rumbly sound that doesnt even go along with the music. i connected everything, the amp powers up and all i get is this crappy rumbling . sounds a little distorted. what do i do?!?! im in the process of fixing it now and my interior is all ripped apart.

does rumbling increase with hu volume
does rumbling happen when hu is off

does rumbline coorelate to the music at all
rumbling stays constant. it doesnt happen when hu off. it doesnt correlate to music. i have 9 gauge grounded to this bolt on chassis

i just need to use 1 rca cable right? just one with 2 "things" one for L and one for R right? this is a alpine type r dvc 4 ohm with a alpine m500 500wrms @2ohm

i wired it up correctly because i tried the sub with my home amplifier and it worked fine.

okay.. new problem. it now works but its just really raspy when its low volume and doesnt have any bass. how do i change the settings for the volts on this dang amp? i just bought it w/o the manual so i dont know how to change it >.

so then i set it to 44v correct? thanx... and if anyone could send me a link to the manual or tell me how to adjust this thing that would be great... its the MRD-M500

Gauge wire used for your main run of power?

What is this wire powering?

If more than one object, are you using a distro?

Gauge wire used for your ground?

Did you ground to a really thick metal of the car?

Did you sand the paint off of that metal?

Are your sub leads fastened securely into the amplifier?

Are your power and ground leads fastened securely into the amplifier?

Answer them all.

Gauge wire used for your main run of power? 5 gauge

What is this wire powering? the amp

If more than one object, are you using a distro? no.. just one amp and one sub

Gauge wire used for your ground? 9

Did you ground to a really thick metal of the car? yea id say its pretty thick... i knocked on it and sounds and feels thick

Did you sand the paint off of that metal? nope...

Are your sub leads fastened securely into the amplifier? yes, 16 gauge speaker wire clamped down good

Amp was what again?

How much power?

Answer those questions

ALSO DO THE FOLLOWING

1.) Sand the metal underneath your ground

2.) Use the same gauge for your ground as you used for your power wire.

Not doing those things will probably result in a dead amp or maybe even a fire hazard //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

mrd-m500 alpine v12

500w @ 2ohms rms

and i dont have any more 5 gauge wire so can i use a small piece from the power cable, then use a distro into 2 9 gauge grounds?

If you have a lot of 9 gauge wire, try the following:

Cut 2-4 (maybe 5) wires out of the 9, however many will fit into the amp, to equal length

Shove them all into the same ring terminal, and the other ends all into the amp

Ground it to the *sanded* grounding spot aforementioned

You should be good
