stock speakers as highs and mids, new sub as lows only

hi i have a scion tc with no subwoofer installed. if i obtain a subwoofer+amp, how do i make my stock speakers play mids and highs only and send my lows to the sub and amp? do i need a new head unit? crossovers? what do i need to do for this to work?

well are you adding a amp for the inside speakers?u can leave the inside all stock ,and just ad a LOC(LINE OUT CONVERTOR),and add a sub amp,and set the amp to low pass,and just bass for your subs,and the rest is the same way it was before,and also the cheaper way,well hope this helps
