The final part was installed toda, the tweeters. I must say they were difficult considering they were my first set of tweeter pods. In the future I know what to do different.

They installed a 5.25 in place of a 6.5 opening, not even using a spacer ring.

Ive looked through some of your installs and they look very professional, i saw your thread on the 2001 7 series install you did while searching on google and it came out very nice, but have you ever installed a custom system in an E65 (2002-2008) BMW 7 series? I'm currently having issues with both the factory head unit and amplifier (5 channel DSP). The head unit powers 6 speakers, 3 of which are not giving any sound, and the amplifier powers 3 speakers and 2 subwoofers, 1 subwoofer not giving sound. The speakers and subwoofer themselves are fine (i swapped the non working ones with their working counter parts and they tested okay) so I'm guessing the head unit and amp are the cause of the problem.

Is it possible to leave the faulty head unit and amplifier in the car, and install a JL cleansweep and an aftermarket amp and have the aftermarket amp power the currently non functioning speakers to restore sound in all 11 speakers?

So far the BMW Dealer quoted me $1100 to replace both the amp and the head unit and a local car audio shop quoted $700 to rewire the entire car and have it produce 5x better sound than the factory system did, but didn't explain how they would do it. I'm not too crazy about upgrading the sound system since the stock system already sounds really sweet when its all working, I just want the sound in all 11 speakers back because by dumb luck all of the non-functioning speakers are on the left side of the car and it sounds annoying having all of my music coming from the right side of the car lol, with the exception of 1 mid range speaker on the rear left door.

If I am reading your post rite, your running all stock right now and 3 speakers are not working. I would not recommend going with the JL cleansweep, you have to use a volume know that they include and not your factory volume knob. (unless this has changed) As long as the reproduction of the system is within the sound processors limits, "believe it is" I would go with the MS8 if you want a sound processor. The way I did the install in the 7 series was grabbed the pre outputs of the factory system and ran them directly into the new amps. I would have to research it but you should be able to do the same. Which system does it have?

I doubt a shop is going to put a quality setup for 700 bucks. I would ask for a list of exact products they would be putting in.

Yep I was skeptical too but they said the only costs would be a new amplifier and labor costs to rewire the car, they said upgrading the speakers isn't worth it since the stock speakers are already good. And the stock system is the 11 speaker Logic7 system, sometimes called the "Top Hi-Fi" system that was the premium sound option in the 2002-2008 BMW 7 series models. Thanks for your response I'll do some research on the MS8 install and contact you again if I need help.

Past weekend was a busy one.

Quote from the customer.

"Well after my major score at BestBuy, I contacted Bigaudio and he just happens to be in my area this weekend so I decided to take him up on his offer and have him over to install my new head unit and sub amp. Super excited to have him do it, nice to have someone familiar with the car and cares. Pictures will be up on Sunday night.

So where do I start. Let’s start with Matt the person, what a gentleman! Showed up at my house and right away I felt like we had known each other for years. So we sat down for some breakfast and the conversation flowed right away. Sitting with a fellow audiophile that is 28 years my junior and yet likes the same music, well that was a welcome surprise.

Now on to the install, the guy knows this car like the back of his hand. The car was dismantled with CARE in just minutes. All of the wiring was soldered and heat shrink covered and all the runs neatly replaced. Of course as faith would have it, just as he’s getting ready for the final touches, one channel's not working. So out comes everything and the hunt begins. Well like I said, he knows his stuff and after a little trouble shooting, he traced the problem back to the previous installer’s work, short in the "lamp cord" they used to feed the crossovers from the amp. He was kind enough to replace the wires for me with something a little more suitable. Once that was done everything went back in without a hitch.

I really can't say enough about this guy, we laughed all day long, even though it was 80 and the sun was on us all day, we still had a blast! I'm having him back in a few weeks to trouble shoot the system in my FX35.

So if you’re in the market for an installer, don't hesitate to give him a call, the price is right, the work is GREAT and the conversation is fun, you won't be sorry. Oh one other thing, he's done like 40 370's, I don't know many installers that can say that.

Thanks again Matt!"
