Need help!!! I cant hear my cds???

I just put a Alpine CDA-9883 in my brothers 2001 dodge dakota crew cab and the radio works fine, as does his iPod, but when u put a CD in, the display shows that its playing but theres no sound??? I tried many different CD's...and nothing. Anyone run into this before? Thanks!

Does that Alpine deck have the option of shutting the internal amplifier off, perhaps you need to toggle it on?

^ X2. you hooked up the remote wire wrong. I did the same thing with my Avic D3.

I had the excat problen on my alpine. Your dodge most likely has a factory amp. On the stock wire harness it'll be a solid blue wire to turn on the amp. The alpine wire is different. It's blue w/ white stripe. The solid blue from the alpine powers the power antena. So if you hooked solid blue to solid blue and blue w/ white stripe to blue w/ white stripe and your on FM/AM it'll work ok. But whenyou switch modes to cd or the Ipod, the alpine will power down the antenna which will turn off the factory amp.

So the proper wiring is blue w/ white stripe from alpine to solid blue stock wire harnes. That's how I did my CVA-1004 and it works great.
