Need Help ASAP! Subwoofer / Amp Problem

Hey there!

This sucks! I have a car meet tomorrow, and my system went kapootz on me.

I have 2 10' Orbis Orbs running off of a JL Audio 500/1.

I was just driving, listening to my music really low, and all of a sudden the crisp clear bass turned into quiet, groggy bass. It sounds like a trumpet with a frog in it or something. Its not clear, and its not loud.

I have checked the voltage, and there is 12.5v going when the car is off, which should be more then sufficient.

I also checked the wiring (RCA's from the back of the deck, and the amp.) I disconnected one of the speakers, reconnected power wires... I have no idea what it is.

Can anyone help? Is my amp blown? Please get back to me asap.. as its 1:30am and I need to get things fixed by the morning if I can. Thanks!

Just watned to add, that I hooked one of the subs up to my 4ch amp, and it sounds good. So my problems lies somewhere in the amp...

I just dont understand why it would go kapoots so randomly. I wasnt blasting it, or anything. Perhaps I will check my remote wire, and the grounds... but power from the remote, and the 4guage were steady... 12.01v for the remote on both amps, and 12.xx for the 4guage

I will get a read out when the car is running, but it made no different to the sound.

my guess would b the ground, but waht do i knwo im jus a newb. but try regroudning it somwhere else.

Thanks for the quick responce. I use the voltmeter on the 4guage + / - and it read what it should... the ground wire is grounded where on a self tapping bolt that also grounds my fuel pump, and other amp. its super tight, sanded... shoulndt be a problem. I will try again though if you think that could be a problem.

y dont u hook the amp up to another speaker to see if it is the amp...

If that be the case, check all wiring.

If that fails bang amp on ground and try again.
