please don't put them in a bandpass box! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

in my opinion, you should contact alpine and get some good specs on a ported box. it would be loud and sound much much much better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I just built my box its a vented for the 1221-D 12" Type R and it hits harder than two Type R's in sealed boxes not even joking. I got the specs if you want them and it only took two days to build. Got the measurements from and Alpine dealer.

Venom do you know the measurements for a bandpass for 2 10" Type-R subs? If you dont can you tell me where you got the information for your measurements so that i can ask about measurments for 2 10"s. Thanks alot....ive been lookin for someone with measurements.

I dont have the measurements for two tens in a bandpass but I do have for a slot ported 12. The guy I got the measurements from was from SOUNDSTATION in Bartlesville Oklahome. The address is 601 SE Frank Phillips Bartlesville OK 74003 Voice is 918-336-2240 and Fax is 918-36-3908. the Web address is http://www.thesoundstation.com I hope I helped im sure those guys are willing to help they are an awesome store and every other dealer said I couldnt put my Alpine subs in a ported box well they were wrong now I have double the sound with one sub. Im hitting about 135dbs with one sub.

Thanks alot for the help...hopefully i can get those measurements and get these subs hittin harder...i have them in a smalled sealed box right now and hope these bandpasses will put some more bump into my bumps... Thanks again and if anyone out there knows the measurements for a bandpass that will fit 2 10" type-r's tell me...later

Im goin bandpass instead of ported because ported doesnt hit as hard as a bandpass and i really want to feel the bass more then i am now in a small sealed

ok just liten to me - ask almost any person on this board whether you should use a ported setup or a bandpass setup. my guess is that 95% of the people would say ported. now unless you have heard a pair of 10" type-r's in a bandpass box before, i seriously wouldn't do it. like they said, it's difficult to have a good box that works how it should, and anyways it would barely be louder than a ported box and the ported box would sound much better. if you're stuck on a bandpass box though, i woud make sure and hear some type-r's in a bandpass box (and if you like it then buy that bandpass box)

Hey man, i have heard a 12 in a bandpass (granted it was a sony) but it sounded like shit. My subs (given the same power...and with a lower efficiency rating than the sonys) hit a lot harder (which again, i know isn't hard because it was an explod)...and it is sealed. From what I hear around here ported is much louder...can't say first hand because i haven't built a ported box yet but it's on the way sometime soon. do not go bandpass!!

From past experiences, the bandpass systems I have used sounded like crap.

Although, I have 2 10" Alpine VR's in a bandpass box right now, and it sounds decent, and gets pretty loud.

Now im thining about going ported if all of you guys are saying dont go bandpass, however, I have heard bandpass systems before and i have loved them, they have hit so hard and sounded great. If ANYONE has heard a good bandpass with 2 Type-r's in them please tell me...i would like to go bandpass from what i have heard so help me with measurements, if i go ported with 2 10" type-r's how many cubic feet should me box be???
