Need harness/modulator for 2002 Silverado.

Hello. I am wanting to purchase a Kenwood KDC-X592 stereo for my truck. Why Kenwood, why not, I don't know much about stereos and this kenwood seems to be in my $ range, plus the control knobs have a rubber grip around them which makes them easy to turn.

Anyway, I was told by Best Buy I need a special harness because my trucks computer runs all my horns and ding ding noises through my stock stereo (which has since been removed. I always wondered why my horn and seatbelt sounds didn't work after I yanked my stereo out.

I read that I need a modulator along with a harness to be able to install the Kenwood. Would anyone know where I can purchase the harness and modulator? I looked at Crutchfield, I found the harness but could not find the modulator. Best Buy wants $120 for the harness and modulator plus to much to install the stereo. I was going to try and do the install myself.

there is no modulator you need idk what they are talking about

so from sound of things u have all aftermarket speakers already, and you either dont have onstar or dont care to keep it

Do you have Bose or Onstar in your car? If you do you will need a MET GMOS-04 harness, iif you don't have one Bose or onstar then you will need a MET GMOS-01 harness. Both run $100

if u dont care about the door chimes/onstar a generic 15 dollar harness can be used but u have to pull an ignition wire from the ignition harness or fuse box

I do not have a bose system and my Onstar is not active. As for now, I cant hear my horn, door open, seat belt warning, or security horn.

well ur horn not working baffles me it is no way tied to the radio, but they warning chimes etc will come back if you get the gmos-01 harness or for 15 bucks get a generic harness and gone forever
