Hey everyone! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I need some help and advice on my next build.

I just upgraded Ford Raptors from an '11 SuperCrew to a '14 SuperCrew. The '11, I bought used and it had a killer system in it. I didn't realize how awesome it was until I turned on the stereo for the '14. It is a freakin joke.

I am going to pay off the truck before I allow myself to put a system in it. It will take me roughly 18 months to get her paid off. But, I want to start planning, and get a vision on where this project needs to go.

Here are the particulars:

I want the sound to be stunning.

I want to use the stock nav/radio head unit. It is the MyTouch Ford premium head unit that we're dealing with.

I do oilfield work, so the money side is not a huge concern. However, I do respect the law of diminishing returns, so let's set a budget of $6,000 - $12,000

All speakers must go in the stock locations. This excludes the sub(s) which would be best in a box under the rear seat. I do not mind if the box sticks out a little. The last one did and I'm used to it.

The stock system has four 5x7s, one in each door, a 1" tweeter in the pillars, and a 4" center speaker.

6 1/2s can be had with roughly 3/4" spacing for the front doors, 1/2" spacing for the rear doors.

The type of music I listen to could be categorized as rock. Here's an example.

The last system I did, I put in a clarion (head unit) focal (front comps) eclipse (rear comps) jl (subs) and Mcintosh (amps). I also dynomatted the car. I was happy with the end result. Times gave changed though, and there are a lot of different options that weren't available then.

Please give me the exact way you would build this system, given these parameters. I really look forward to your responses. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Thanks a mil!!

Helix processor to integrate the stock hu Dyn audio 3 way components. With a 6.5 front doors and tweeter. 4" rear doors ran active of course I think a zed 6 channel for Mids and highs sub would be determined by mounting depth and either one or two maybe some thing custom made by Spl audio with another zed amp. Soundrive interconnects. Xs power wires. 0 gauge to a second battery in the back to drop to 4 gauge if needed. Tantric deadener all around Singer 320 amp hairpin alt xs power batteries. One up front one in the rear

First off, hella thanks bro. Really appreciate what you dropped on here. Great introduction to a lot of brands I was unaware of.

Questions:

1) Why 4" in the rear doors if I can fit 6 1/2s?

2) Are you suggesting I don't use the center channel?

3) Is the tantric sound deadener lightweight? I catch mad air with these trucks and want to keep it at light as possible.

You can bet your *** I'll contact you when I get rolling on this project for a Singer.

Where are you located in Texas? There are some incredible audio techs in Dallas depending on how far you will drive.
San Antone. Dallas is a bit too far. :-/ 5 hours away...

Really appreciate you asking, though. :)

The 4" for the 3 way set. You wanna keep all the frequencies separated to their appropriate speakers You can do 3 inch for the center channel if you like I'm waiting on a sample if the deadener. But it's the thickest on the market today

Gotcha. Will go 4" then! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I am certainly not as experienced as you so I've got no preference on the center channel. If you think it will hurt the overall sound, I'll leave it out. If you think it'll improve it, I'll do it to it.

Update me on the deadener when you can! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Much thanks man

Check out Bay Area Audio Visions. Louis GonzalesI've met him and he's the real deal. Well worth a visit.
I appreciate it, but it's two hours out. For tweaking, quality issues, etc, I'd rather the installer be local. I don't particularly feel like the hassle of what you're suggesting. I'm sure that the guy you're suggesting is pretty good though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Wish he was closer!

I literally cannot recommend anyone local to you, and for the group of professionals whom I queried to have no one to recommend in San Antonio is a bit worrisome. Do me a favor and call (361) 853-0936 or e-mail Louis at louis@bayareaaudiovisions.com. I get no compensation for doing this. I just want you to have an awesome experience with your sound system upgrade.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to waste this guy's time. I'm not going to Corpus for an install. It may be worrisome to you, but it isn't to me. The guy you're recommending has a 3.5 rating online, too. I can't say that's exactly attractive.

How far are you from houston (greenspoint/spring/katy)?
Sounds like your in league city or Huntsville.
San Antonio. Driving 3 hours to drop off my truck and fly back is not going to happen.

There are some great leads on quality installers in the SA area online. I'm sure I can visit all of the shops, look at previous installs and make the best deduction of who's work I like the best. I'm really not concerned about this.

What I'm more concerned about is how no one's countered with diff equipment. Either this board all agrees that this is the best equipment, or everyone is afraid to go against forum vendors...

The recommendations that have been made are great. Why don't you just install yourself?

I have no idea what equipment you mean?

If you are talking about what mylow said its because thats his suggestion.

If you would like a good sound system you have to research what you like.

I dont know if you wanna keep your stock headunit or have a double din.

If your ok with single dins then id recommend pioneer 80prs, clarion cz702 so you can go active or just have a very good eq.

for the front speakers go with hertz brand, or look on this forum for popular speakers. My highly rated speakers i love are the jbl p660c or db drive p3 6k.

Back speakers just get some good full range or mids. Soundqubed 6.5 mids are good.

id recommend putting them active if possible.

As far as subs what are you looking for? Some deep bass or something that blends?
