Without the existance of a decent audio forum in South Africa, I registered on here to try get a proper way forward without having to pay more school fees.
I have a VW Touareg with the following:
Alpine W235 BT HU
Front doors - Alpine SPR60C Splits. Driven off SPL Dynamics 150.4 amp.
Rear doors - Alpine SPG17C Splits. Driven off HU.
Sub - SWR10D4 run at 2ohm. Driven off Alpine MRX-M110 amp.
I have completely deadened the front and rear doors, as well as the trunk area. Running a 1/0 cable to a splitter, to 2 x 4awg cables feeding the two amps. a 2 farad cap is inline to the MRX amp.
Now my issue is that i'm a bit unhappy with the sound in the vehicle, just not loud enough, even when playing off original cd's. I don't need low booming bass, hence the 1 x 10inch. I want to change the HU for a DVD, just to have a nice screen with touch functionality. But I don't know what HU to go for. Years ago, Alpine and Clarion were the boys, seems that a lot of people are now running Pioneer etc?
Do I need to change up my front stage for a 3 way system? Maybe up it to the type X? I'm considering changing up the rears for 8 inch subs, don't know if this is stupid. Maybe add another 10? I am doing the big 3 upgrade in a few weeks when my new cable arrives from the states.
