Need Fuse if amp has one already?

I just got a Kenwood amp and it has a 40A fuse in it. I'm not familiar if most amps have fuses or not or all do. My question is, do I need another inline fuse on my power cord near my battery if my amp already has a fuse. If so, I'm guessing it should also be a 40A fuse?

Thanks

Most amps have fuses. It is not required to have an inline, but it isnt costly, so why not? And yes, typically your inline should match your amp fusing

alright, thanks.

i am going to get a wiring kit which will most likely come with an inline fuse holder, so why not. =]

plus i read that the closer the fuse is to the battery, the better.

the amp recommends 8ga power wire but most 8ga wire kits come with a 60A fuse.

would an inline 60A fuse be ok with this amp even though the amp uses a 40A fuse?

i know its better to be close to the amp's rating maybe even slightly higher

This is what I was told the fuses on the amp protect the amp. The inline fuses protects the Electrical system incase it wears through the plastic jacket and shorts out on the frame or body. So if you like your car use in line fuses. A $20 fuse or all new electrical system.
