Need feedback, no local retailer stocks these speakers

In my quest to hear some high-end speakers I ended up at of all places Car Toys as they have Focal. I used my CD through an Alpine HU and a PDX 4.150 amp. I liked the 165 Polyglass but I was more impressed by the 165 k2. They're priced @$799.99. I hadn't considered Focal but seeing how they are the only higher end speakers I've been able to hear I guess they're on my list.

If any of you know of some car speaker dealers in Denver please let me know. Again, I'm look for speakers to hear like Boston Acoustics SL60, Polk SR6500, Morel, Image Dynamics, Rainbow.

Those focals are probably better than the Polks if you can get them in the same price range. Can't go wrong with those. I keep forgetting about them. Polks are a little more laid back.

you might want to see if there are any local JL Dealers, the ZR's sound very nice, and the new C5 components look to be quite nice as well; you could also probably find a good deal on the boston Z6 now that the spz-60's are out. the dynaudio system 240 would do very well, as well as many others. i'd have to recommend a drive to the nearest large city that has several shops you can audition some sets at before you commit to spending a lump of cash on something you've never heard. many people will say "i love the ------------- speakers, they sound amazing" while others may think they lack warmth, are too harsh, lack midbass, etc. everyone's ears are different, what i like you may hate. before i dropped $500 plus on speakers i'd go listen to some, even if it took a saturday to do it. this is the primary reason i don't own any rainbow's or some of the other speakers, nobody around here carries them.

the other thing you'll have to keep in mind is that they are only going to sound as good as the install. placement, proper deadening, tuning, etc is key. you can make a $150 pair of speakers sound like a million bucks, or make a pair of boston Z's sound like trash.

I've listened to the Morel's and they sound very good. Of the choices you listed that would be my pick. Here's another option....http://www.madisound.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=45&osCsid=070792d4e0c5b2c83df318a93f600606

You can find some high-end, awsome sounding speakers at decent prices. ScanSpeak and Seas just to name a couple. I normally wouldn't recommend the internet to someone as opposed to shopping in a real store but you're somewhat limited on options. Good luck in your search.
