need Electrical Upgrade Advice

ok, I'll be getting a sundown 3kd at the end of the week. I did the big 3 long time ago in whatever knu's biggest is. And I'll be running a kicker 650.4 also. Currently 1/0 going from hood battery to kinetik hc1800 in rear. HO alt isn't a question b/c I called around and no one makes one for my car. So my question is what\how many other batteries do i need to run full tilt for 2-3 songs but not all day? Oh, and what would be better adding another battery (3 total then) or replacing stock one? I was told or more like read i should be fine with a pm d3100. Oh almost forgot i have a 150a alt.

with a 150amp alt and 2 batts in the back and one upfront you should be good to go

throw the hc1800 upfront and throw two big batts in the back like d3100's or something with alot of AH's

oh ok, thanks yeah i had no clue whether to keep the stock and add the batts or just ditch it and replace so are 2 necessary? Or just to be sure no voltage drops?

I pretty much agree with SWFL that two Group 31 batteries in the rear should do you just fine. One might get you by with a strong alt, but since your alt can only give you about 1700W effective output (150A x 14.4V x 80% efficiency = 1728). The rest is going to come from battery. The more batteries you have, the higher the voltage will be at the amp. You effectively split the load between two batteries instead of all on one.

So I would move the HC1800 under the hood and add in two HC2400 in the trunk. If you wanted to do it "by the book", you would isolate the rear bank. That is up to you. It is not necessary, but it will extend the lifespan of the batteries.

MECHMAN doesnt have an alt for your car??? i didnt think anyone made one for my 93 subaru impreza but he did.. it works great !.. he is on this forum. if you havent already check him out
