have a HP computer. it is turning itself offf/on. will not let me online of do anything.

turns on boots up, and then does a restart. will do this everytime.

WHAT DO I DO?

and for all the comedians out there, I'm on my neighbors computer.

that is what I figured, but my computer will not let me do ANYTHING.

will I just need to buy a new HD?

or can a computer guy fix this?

Unless you are severely retarded or seven years old you should be able to fix this yourself.

It's quite simple.

Insert windows CD into drive, boot from it, follow the on screen instructions to delete all partitions, create new ones, and install windows.

You might have to enter the bios to tell the computer to boot from the CD drive, but i bet it is already set that way unless you, or someone you allowed to, changed the boot order.

I'm not sure about HPs specifically, but i know dells are set to boot from CD in order to make it easier for their hard to understand and incompetent foreign tech support to walk newbs through reinstalling the OS.

try pressing f1 and f2 right as the computer powers up...

You shoudl enter the bios, or set-up, and be able to tell the computer to boot from the CD rom before it boots from the HDD.
