when i was wiring my stock am/fm radio back in my isuzu, i accidentally touched the hot n wire together through my finger... it smoked a bit... and now i can't get the stereo to turn on, the battery doesn't stay charged, and when i charge the battery, it makes a serious whining noise... think i blew a fuse or something???

What exactly did you do? Short the hot wire to ground? Or simply touch the end of the hot wire...

Like it was mentioned above, check all the fuses that could be in the wire's path back to the battery.

I shorted the hot wire to the ground... i'm sure there are fuses blown but i don't know where

Check all the fuses in the fusebox. If you checked and replaced all those, check the resistance between the battery positive lead and the hot wire, to see if you have any breaks in the continuity.

similar incident happened to me was pretty expensive too. just spent $120 on a used body control module for my caravan and sent the pioneer avh p6400 in for repairs ..got it back and cost me $80 so in all it cost me $200 plus a lil more on all the fuses and the test light i had to get also ... lesson learned disconnect battery so these type of expensive accidents dont happen... check the fuses under hood and under dash

Best piece of advice in this entire thread.

Take the negative terminal off before starting any work. You can't short it out if the circuit's not there.
