Ok so I just installed 2 type r 12 new style and I had to go with sealed according to box builder due to style of box wanted, needless to say I am way disapointed, anyways im attaching pic of what they built anyone with some better ideas to go ported ??View attachment 26530100View attachment 26530099

The disappointment isn't with the them being sealed but with the placement. In the middle firing up, is the worst configuration in a truck. It is similar to putting a sub in the middle of the room, you can barely hear it in some places.

Try down firing them, sealed is smaller and probably fits better. Once you get placement and orientation figured out, then play with enclosure types.

Another. Possibility is that you wired them out of phase. Check the wiring first, describe how you wired them, what the impedance is of the coils, and what amp is running them.

I see you tried to add a pair of 12's by setting them on the seats. That is another issue, don't set the subs on something soft or the box can move and cancel the sub output. Is the box secured to the floor somehow?

If you want those subs in that truck, you need to sacrifice something, I.e. half of the rear seats. Therer isn't much legroom behind the drivers seat, and that should be a 1/3 seat, just pull it out and have a proper enclosure built that takes advantage of down firing and corner loading.

or sacrifice money and buy a JL stealth box. I assume they make one for your truck.

Sorry for slow reply keep hope. I am pushing them with alpine pdx m12 amp, wired at 4ohm, with the pdx you should have 1200rms on either 2 or 4 ohm. I had a probox before that was under the seat and I really hated it..... I was thinking the samething about using the place with 1/3rd seat and placing a box there. Im also considering selling these two 12s and going with one really good 12 in a ported inclosure
