Need box for fast bass response

what would be better to have a fast response from a 18" Q

Would a bigger box or smaller box be better Fi recommends 6-10 ft ported I have space sowhat would be best

Alright thanks man but how about ported I know its not the best for rock music but I kinda want to get the right mix bc I listen to both rock and rap but I guess I could two boxes and see which I like better

I've tried 10s its what I'm running now and they just ain't cutting it for me so I decided the 18" Q bc I heard it has really fast response from all the reviews, and I'll get plenty of spl just trying to decide on the box

SS RL-i all though i have 2 T3TSS 10's in 2.75 sealed doin mid 140's which is plenty for daily driver and double kicks are nothing for them

Squid, since you obviously didn't see the line under my comment about the 10's, I was completely kidding with you. Cone size has nothing to do with how "quick" a speaker is. That seems to be the general consensus though, and I really don't know why.

Ok. While this may not be literally true, the type of person who is looking for a "faster response" is usually looking for better sound quality... hence my suggestion for a low tuning frequency.

low tuning = faster response? I don't get that, dd's tuned at 40hz hit double kicks with the best of em. (even if they sound like poo elsewhere)

I usually associate a "fester" response as something that has to do with transient response and group delay. Tuning lower will definitely help in both of those categories, as well as making the enclosure smaller. The thing with this sub is that I wouldn't run it ported if I wanted those qualities.

If I wanted a lot of low end, quick transients, and low group delay, I would definitely seal it.
