I have a 2000 escalade with 4 massive hippo subs 2 massive "D8000 a T400 on 4 jbl 6.5 a hertz on 4 4" powerbass mids. To run this without clipping how many batteries do i need and what size should my second alt. be.

I would look on amazon. they have xs power group 31 batts at a very good price. run 4 xs power group 31 batts. xs power cost a little more but, they will out perform every other batt. out there of the same size. I saw a huge difference when I switched to xs.

So would i need to upgrade my alternator could i just add a second stock alternator

you will be pulling quite a bit of current. the 2 sub amps will be pulling app. 400 amps each. stock alt. is probably no more than 140 amps so you can see that it will not take very long to pull the batts down. I would run multiple high output alts.
