Well I was at work today(circuit city) and some of the guys i work worth thought that there audiobahn subs were real nice and i offended them when i said they were crap. One of the guys told me to find a single 12 louder then his single aluminum series 12 and i got a lil carried a way and said i could get an 8 to get louder. So now i am trying to find the most badass 8 i can to do this. So i need some suggestions, I will be running my modded 1501d. any help would be appreciated. thanks

JL 8W7

Kicker 8L7

Crystal CMP 8

Elemental Designs e8a/e8ax (if you can find one used)

Soundsplinter RL-i 8" (when it comes out in a month or so)

Digital Designs

You're going to have to crank down the gains on that amp, however...or run the sub at a higher impedance.

I was looking at the dd sub. But I was hoping to find something a little beefier. My budget is something around 300. THe cheaper the better but I want to make sure i get the job done so im willing to pay more. I really just want to shut these people up.

I will definately be porting the box. I am not really worried about the sq of the sub. But do you think the w7 will be good. I reme, ber seeing some pics of some big 8 a while back but i cant seem to find it anywhere.

chances are that is it. i think in my dads car i am going to do three W7 eights eventually...

I think that I am going with a 8 l7 or the dd 8. I get the l7 for about 100 with my discount so I am leaning a lil more towards it.

I'd say the L7 would put out more than the Audiobahn 12. Not to mention embarass the hell out of the guy who paid more for a bigger woofer. =p What meter are you using to test this?

Yeah the Audiobahn Alum series 12 sub gets loud... but they still **** pretty hard in sound quality. I'm sure the new SoundSplinter RL-i 8" sub when released will be one to hold in high stature. I know the 8W7 will hit very hard. The L7 will push some serious mass for its small design. If you want to really play with these guys, build a box tuned high (around 60-65Hz) and have your one 8" sub metered and compared to the Audiobahn 12. When you do have it metered, make sure you are using the same car, same amp, same headunit etc. Make sure the only difference between the two subs is the box and maybe the gain settings on the amp (adjusted properly with a DMM). That should spank the h3ll out of your "audiobahn are gods" coworkers.
