Need amp help!!!! I have a 13.5 W7!!

What about the db drive amps? The a7 1500.1 model

what amp would do that? If you could give me a few examples that'd be awesome
Kicker zx1500.1, Rockford t1500 cp, old school Memphis amps....

If I looked used. What would be a good amp that would run .75 ohms stable? I want to give it around 1500-2000 watts rms
Buy a used JL 500/1; they can be had for under $200, they're reliable, and they sound good. 1kW is overkill for that subwoofer despite what the 'specs' say. 2kW will smoke the coil very easily. Remember, this is an SQ sub that just happens to get loud. It doesn't need a lot of power to get going and a solid 5-600w will be more than enough to chase you out of the car. In addition, you will not be able to hear a difference between a 500w amp & a 1000w amp on that sub (seriously).

whats the reasoning behind this statement? not saying its wrong, just curious.

Theoretically doubling power should result in a 3db gain if all else remains the same. Same thing as keeping the same power, but doubling cone area. Theoretically you should see the same gain in loudness.

There is no reasoning behind it. Logarithms and math proves it wrong.

What? Huh? How is 1000 watts not going to be louder than 500? I might be a noob but..... C'mon now.....
Well as previously stated the max you can gain by doubling power is 3db, it will be audibly louder, but not a lot louder to the ear.

The only times a 1000w amp will sound 3dB louder than a 500w amp is on paper. In the real world, like a trunk or hatch, you won't be able to tell. The reason for this is the larger amp will heat up the voice coil in the W7 and increase its impedance...so you're not 'really' sending 1kW to it. Furthermore, a person cannot hear a 1dB change in amplitude and only a very small % of people can hear 2dB. 3dB is the smallest perceptible change in volume.

With that in mind, why spend the extra $$$ on a bigger amp when you will not hear a difference? Also, JL Audio had upped their power ratings on their subs. A W7 that used to be rated at 750w is now rated at 1000w even though not a thing changed with the design of the woofer.

Your JL sub uses a very light cone and doesn't need a lot of power to make a lot of noise and it's easily one of the most well engineered woofers on the planet. Just ask the home audio guys...

i have a fosgate t1500-1bdcp that you could wire at 3 ohm and have over 1500rms, and 2000rms at .75 beautiful amplifier pm me if you are interested.

The theory states all things remain the same and you increase power by 2 or double cone area you can expect a near 3db gain.
