need alarm suggestion

before even purchasing my sx15 and installing it, i'd like to get a real nice alarm system to help any future break-ins (alot of that happens around here)

ive seen those little ~2" lcd screens that shows what is being touched on your car. how accurate are those things?

i got a good 300-400$ to spend to insure a high quality alarm system

i live by 'you get what you pay for' so plz dont include any low-grade alarms.

audiovox ax900 same as prestige aps-996a sells for abot 323 at best buy... its a really good alarm. and the alarm parts are made by dei so it will be really simalr to the Viper that sells for $500... and those are installed prices

$499 @ best buy for the Viper 791x but that is without having the wires, loom trunk release and remote start added on. Just the basic installation.

I added a battery backup, a mini piezo siren and mine came up to $671 installed

hmmm ill look into it. i dont need the remote start out (i have a manual ******) and my car already has trunk release.

is there any significant difference between viper and python besides names?

so far from what im lookin at...its either:

prestige 996a

viper 771xv

Well I already have a trunk release in my car too, its just an extra $20 I think to have them hook it up, which is rather dumb since my car already came with a trunk release button on my keyless entry.

Viper and Python internals are the same

dont buy cheap, youll regret it when your alarm fails to go off during a break in. i got my viper xv790 on ebay for $250. The 2-way responder is great. i can always see whats triggering the alarm. and the remote start is suuuuhweet in the cold winter

the xv790 is an outdated model. i got it before the xv791 was out. check ebay for the xv791. i believe its Viper's top-of-the-line model. Basically, the only difference in the xv790 and xv791 is the responder. the xv790's responder guzzles batteries! it sux! but anyways, you should be able to find the xv791 for pretty cheap on ebay. good luck

sounds great, and is what ill most likely purchase.

i love the comments that are only dei is the best.... with out saying why. and since they make the internal components to the ax900 and the aps-996a then how are they different??? they are the same quality alarm your just not paying for an overpriced name...

also the reason someone had to pay $671 for an alarm installed with remote start is because usually on newer cars you have to get an immobolizer bypass which is around $60 and then the installation on that.

and if you allready have a trunk pop on your factory keyless meens nothing they still have to use a relay and hook it up which we charge $35 for plus the relay.

i had the aps996 on my cobra. loved it, sold the car and put a aps996 on my new truck. great alarm.
