Need advice

Been out of the scene for 20 years. A lot has changed. Need help with an amp selection. Want massive (clean) bass. Low distortion, with high S/N ratio to drive two subs (probably 12's). Amp budget is approximately $500 to $800. Considering the Memphis PRX1500.1 or the JL HD1200/1, or any other suggestion you may have. Thoughts?

Thanks, Jeff

Would consider used. No preference as far as country of manufacture, but I'd prefer to buy from someone is US. No size constraints--vehicle is a SUV. I'd prefer not to have to upgrade my alternator or add additional batteries.

you'll still need the big 3 upgrade and a good AGM battery underneath the hood for 1500 watts. I'd go with a JL over memphis any day but buying a JL new is basically taking it in the @ss in terms of price to performance ratio.

Check out this amp on Craigslist:
Memphis mc1 4000 obo

I don't know this amp, but what little research I found says this amp is a beast in a big way.

Maybe he is willing to ship.
This is why you should not post. If you dont know anything about the amp don't suggest it. Yes that amp is a beast, will do 4k all day but you will also need a very stout electrical to run it as it is power hungry. For the price great deal. For someone not looking to upgrade there alt it's a poor choice.

The soundqubed Q1-1200.1 fits the signal to noise spec you are looking for it will also run fine on stock alt. However if you are looking to buy a quality amp get the IA 10.1

You are absolutely right about that amp not being the right one. I totally missed the post about not wanting to upgrade his electrical.

Anything over 80db is fine for S/N. pretty much any decent amp these days. It's not a spec to focus on.

Massive clean bass and low distortion come from the install and tune.

You don't have to pay near that much for 1500 watts.
