Need a system for Mazda RX-8

I'm going to make this short, I am trying to put together a SQL system for my Mazda RX-8. At this time I am going for the following

Deck: Eclipse AVN5435 or AVN5495 (This has everything I need, music, dvd, navigation) It will be customly fiberglassed into the dash

Speakers: I don't know what I should get. I really want SQ, will basically just get components up front and leave rear fill stock. Suggestions on this would be welcomed

Sub: Well, the guys at the audio place said I should get two tens and have it ported into the car. I was thinking about either getting two 8W7's and having them mounted on the rear center dash or just getting one 10W7 but I don't know, suggestions once again would be great.

Amps: Whatever will give the right power to the sub/components. If I go with W7's, I'd most likely have to pickup 500/1's or something.

All in all, I was looking to spend about $3500 with install, I know the deck alone will be around $1600, so that is taking a big portion out of the budget, but I still have something to work with.

wow thats a lot of money to spend on a deck...

You can save yourself some money and don't go with JL audio gear, you can get very comparable equipment from RE, Adire, Ascendant Audio, Soundsplinter and the like, for considerabally less.

Yes I know, but I am going to have a shop install everything because this car is a little too expensive to tear apart myself and I really would hate to bring in a RE XXX to them and them saying it's a piece of crap and not know the specs of the sub and amps and blowing it and then coming back to me saying that it's not their fault cause it could have been blown before you bought it.

I don't know about you guys, but car audio shop guys around here are dicks if you don't buy from them and a problem happens, they will always blame the customer trying to makeup something.

When I had my blazer I installed everything myself and I ran Elemental Design subs and US Acoustic amps and Better Audio 1600M1 amp, etc etc, so I know a lot about Adire, RE, ED, etc cause I've dealt with their products and loved them, but I just don't trust the shops with installed Adire/RE/ED etc because it's not "mainstream"

why dont you just have them run the wires and everything then?

if you know what your doing then make an enclosure, or have one made to your specs and install the shit yourself when all the wires are laid out?

Also, if they're dicks about it, do it the right way. Go in, tell them the specs, tell them the size of the box you want and what you want it tuned to, it's a business they're in it to make money, so they'll do what you want to hope you come back(hopefully)...

If not go elsewhere, or even have someone on here make you a box!

Maybe I should go with an all eD system. This is what I priced out in the package deal.

Two 11Ov2's

Nine.1

Nine.4

EDi6500

That's a little over $1000, yet I have never heard any of the new products before. It's a ton cheaper than going all JL, and I'm sure the 11Ov2 will get close to as loud as the W7 in SPL and SQ? I had a pair of the e15k's the 2nd gen K before they went to flat cones and I loved those, but I don't know how the Ov2's compare. Also, how are the EDi6500 components? Should I get the Nine.4 or the Nine.2. If I get the Nine.4 150W will go to them, with the Nine.2, 100W

theres a RE dealer in fresno they could build th bos and everything, they do some really nice work. the box they built was great. and since your getting that eclipse unit i think you should goto good guys in fresno as well and our install is quite a bit cheaper than the shop. hit me up on AIM: Niggz89

EDIT: sorry i read our post wrong los gatos i thought you were los banos. But either way check out good guys i think its 250 to install that deck and teh custom work is only gonna cost somthing like 50 as long as the instaler isnt an asssssholle

I talked to Ben last night and he told me to do the following

4 9Kv2's, 2 Nine.2's and a set of EDi6500. Sealed box for the 9Kv2's and he said they will absolutly pound. I don't know, I would think that two 10's would outdo 4 9Kv2's? Also, if I use a Nine.2 to power the Kv2's, I have to wire them into 4ohms and I can't get that.

Ov2s will work fine off the Nine.1, but for the 6500s, I'd got with a Nine.2 over a Nine.4. The Nine.2 was basically designed from the ground up to go with the 6500s' 150 watt rms power handling. If you powered 6500s with a Nine.4, you would run the risk of blowing the comps. The Nine.4 realistically, probably puts out closer to 225-watts rms per side when bridged, and that's a bit too much juice for 6500s.

I own the 6500s, and am pushing prolly 130 watts rms via my old soundstream D200II. The result is pretty warm and loud at the same time. These speakers handle all types of music and never skip a beat, I'd recommend them to anyone who has room for an oversized 6.75" midbass and plans on running 75-175 watts rms of clean power. The highs are very laid back, yet accurate, no listening fatigue at all. The mids put out gobs of good midbass, and sound amazing in the midrange area too. A truly world class pair of comps IMO. The tweeters are the smoothest, and most musical I've ever heard, besides the top end stuff like Seas, Focal, Dynaudio, etc.

So, I went to a high end car audio shop and I talked to the guy about my car. He said that he could do the Eclipse AVN5435 and custom fiberglass installed for $2500. I believe that's a pretty good price, he said it's about $1800 for the unit, and then rest was labor/install. The deck on ebay alone is about $1600 so I'm spending about $200 more on having the warrenty just incase something happens with the deck.

He then also said he'd throw in a page alarm for about $350 more installed. This has remote start, pager, trunk open, windows up and windows down button, etc etc. So it came to a total of $2850 for the screen and alarm installed with the custom fiberglassed dash for the screen to fit in my car. Is this a good for the price or what do you guys think?

This still is not having the subs/amps/components/install yet, I still have not yet decided.
