Need a little simple headunit info

I just installed my pioneer premier deck. Everything works fine, EXCEPT..lol. When i turn my key backwards to put it in accessory mode, my dash lights come on, and the" key in the ignition" chime stays on. Also, the dimmer switch will not dim my dash or headunit. Do i have the dimmer wire off the headunit running to a constant hot maybe? what do i need to wire it to, to resolve the problem. This is in a 1999 suburban. Thanks alot, Ed

every install that i have done, i have always left the dimmer empty, meaning i never connect it to anyhing. what did you connect it to?

Im not sure about the dimmer problem but in my 94 suburban when ever i turn the ignition to accesory my chime stays on as well i called my local gm dealer and was told this is normal on some gm vehicles.

I just installed my HU the other day. My Hu's dimmer wire is taped up and just hanging out (its orange). The ILLumination wire on the other hand, is hooked up (also orange, perhaps with a stripe). I had to turn the setting on in the HU, but now when I turn on my lights, it gets dimmer.
