Hey guys,

So I've been doing a great deal of reading and am looking for some advice on a realistic setup based on my expected goals. Hopefully I laid out my information/research/questions in an organized manner that will make it easy to provide this noob with some help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

What I want to end up with/what I'm coming from: I am coming from a stock deck, stock speaker, with just a basslink sub from a 2003 GTI ('premium monsoon 200w stereo'). I was always happy with it, but recently purchased a new car (2012 Civic EX) and the stereo is VERY lacking compared to the VW. That said, I'm not looking to spend an insane amount of money, or go balls to the wall. Some basic upgraded speakers that will give more volume, clarity and bass would be great.

I do NOT want to swap out the stock deck as I'm not a big fan on the looks of aftermarket decks/dash kits.

The car setup: A pair tweeters mounted on the A-pillars, pair of front door speakers, and a pair of rear speakers in the rear window deck.

My research: I've been looking at the DB651 given their cost and seemingly great reviews everywhere. My main question is ,given that this car has tweeters up front. Would it be best to go with 4 DB651 speakers (coax), and another pair of aftermarket tweeters in the A-pillars or is that overkill in terms of tweeters?

This also brings it back to price, given that a pair of DB651's can be had for $60~ and seem to be around the range of sound quality I'm looking for, I'd be hard pressed to spend a significant amount more at this point.

Questions: Would it be better to go with DB6501 up front for the door speakers + tweeters and just a single pair of DB651 for the rear? Would I notice a difference ? From what I understand of tweeters and see posts, many feel they only need a single pair per car, however I definitely don't want that mono/stereo directional sound, I'd like it to feel more 'surround' if that makes sense (I could be way out to lunch if that is functional or not)

For a sub, I'm just thinking I will move my existing basslink over as it seems to have suited me well in my VW and I never felt like it needed more bass. Is there a better option these days? I've had the thing for a long time and it was put in by the previous owner.

Lastly, I know I can run the speakers off the existing deck, but it is probably best to add an additional amp to kick out more juice as the factory deck is about 140w I believe.

Are there any things I am missing based on the components I'm throwing around? If there are better speakers for the money than the DB651 and DB6501, or basslink, etc please suggest it. I am an audio noob and greatly value anyone's opinion/help.

Thanks guys, I hope I wasn't too confusing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Components up frt. off of an amp coaxes in the rear. Can be amp if you like. And a sub in the trunk
Alright, thanks!

How does something like this stack up against the Polk speakers I mentioned?

CDT Audio COM-626CR - Vertex Audio

I haven't heard of CDT before reading here, and can't find much on reviews on them but they seem to be spoken highly of here. Am I better off with those than the Polks?

Has anyone owned both and can comment on a comparison of the two?

As for an amp, what would be required with a 4 speaker + 2 tweeter setup? Would I need a 6 channel amp?

Anyone have any suggestions besides the basslink for around the same cost (I would sell the basslink) that would be a considerable increase in quality of the bass ?

Thanks again
