Need a little help choosing the right amp. Please!

Like I said in my first post, those subs would be fine on that amp.

But, since you asked about other setups, I'm going to start with a few questions.

1. How much space are you willing to give up in your trunk?

2. Can you give me the max dimensions you're working with(remember that the opening of your trunk is much smaller than the size of the whole trunk)?

3. Do you already have power wire run throughout your car? If so, what gauge, and what brand?

4. Do you have a regular starting car battery?

5. What engine size is your Grand Am(I'm going to find out how big your alternator is)?

But since it's mono I would need two of them? Correct?
No. You can wire your subs together so that your amp will see a single positive and negative set of wires.

You'd choose the first one. By the way, I edited my last post. If you answer those questions, we can give you more ideas for a setup in your budget.

1. All of it

2. No I will measure and post tomorrow if you want

3. No I do not

4. Yes

5. I have the 3.4l v6, I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that it puts out about 103 amps at 1500 rpm but feel free to double check that

What I meant by wouldn't I need two of them is that one puts out 500 rms and thats what each of the subs need so they would be underpowered with just one, right?

Thanks

You would wire your subs at 1 ohm, at which the amp should be putting out ~1300-1500W cleanly. You can set the gain a little lower to make sure you don't overpower them.

I'll post back tomorrow with more actual suggestions, I'm on my phone and about to sleep.

Well, I am almost completely lost anymore. Could someone please tell me what they suggest for a couple of 12" 4 ohm dual voice coil subs in a ported box? I really don't want to mess this up and get the wrong amp. My subs are still going to be the two m12d4's which are rated at 500 rms each. I would like the price to be around $150 but I am willing to go up to $200. Any suggestions?
