Need a GPS , which to buy?

I need GPS for my car because I've been driving everywhere recently to lots of unfamiliar places and it sucks getting lost and asking for directions, I would prefer to have a one time purchase, non subscription type of deal, less than $200 would be awsome as I'm quite poor //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif .

Whats the difference between Tom-Tom and Garmin, also I heard about the new Magellan... I've been checkin out the Navigon 5100 GPS and like its features

Real-time, subscription-free traffic information, updates and alternate route advisories
Lane Assistant feature alerts you to change lanes relative to the route for effective navigation

Adjustable Reality View 2D and 3D visuals with photo-realistic junction views

Automatic speed limit warnings
But the thing is it can only be had online, not in stores at BestBuy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif . I'm looking to purchase today or tommorow.

I have a 150 dollar tom tom and my dad has a 200 dollar garmin. The garmin has a bigger screen and seems to be easier to find stores/food by searching, but i like my tomtom better because it is easier to find alternate routes and view route details... its really easy to change the route or avoid part of it but isnt on the garmin.

If i were to buy one, I would get a garmin. They are simple to use. I get ALOT of customers that come back to bb with problems with their tom tom's. I think I've had one Garmin with a problem. Go get a 200w at comp-usa for 179.99. BB should price match them too.

I just bought my gf the 3.5 display Garmin at walmart for 240 bucks... very very easy to use it seems to be a good quality GPS... i would def get a garmin if i had to get another one

I sell tomtom, garmin, navgon, mio & magellan........not a whole lot of dif in them, but i do sell more tomtom than any, sometimes it comes down to which one is the cheapest.......

We have Garmins. The hand held one, and the Garmin program on the laptop in the tow truck. Great units.

And BTW, there's only two companies, or source that provide navigation. When you're buying a GPS, you're paying for the name and the features and screen size, etc.

i have a garmin nuvi200

my friend has a magellan, and ive used a tomtom, and i didnt like either. the megallan's map layout i didnt like as much as mine, and it was a little more difficult to do things such as 'go to recently found destinations' etc etc. it just looked a little choppier, a little laggier, and not as nice. the tomtom i didnt like at all...

also my stepbro has a magellan and he constantly complains about his arrivals being about .1-.2 miles off from where they actually are, but i havent heard of many people having that problem so maybe he got a shitty unit

the 1 complaint i have with my nuvi200 is the map updates are NOT free, they are $65.00 or something like that. i torrented the new maps b/c i dont think that is right at all, not even ONE free update.
