Hello, I am new to the forums, I generally post on offtopic.com but thought i'd also register on a car audio site.

Anyway, I was supposed to be getting a cd5000 through a contact but that fell through (he's too busy) so now I have to resort to buying elsewhere and I am not sure what to get.

I was thinking CD4000 maybe or perhaps an alpine of some sort.

Also, what would be a good site to get a deck from? (i was thinking cardomain-eclipse, woofersetc for something else)

well any help would be great, its going into a 66 mustang and the project is picking up again so im trying to get things figured out as soon as possible.

i like my 9855 a lot. you can probably still find one somewhere. the cd5000 is a good deck as well.
yeah i was looking forward to the 5000, but it has now left my price range

ive been looking at alpines as well im just concerned about their 2V pre-out voltage

try to get an alpine 7998, probably the most badass deck ever
im trying to avoid going ebay or having to really hunt for something

going used is something i dont want to do either, the only time id go used is if i really knew the person or was referred to them by a trusted person

every once in a while a 7998 or a 9835 comes up for sale in the classifieds here, but you might have to wait a while.

Whats important to you in a deck, feature wise?

Id recommend a Pioneer 880prs.......I have one, and couldnt be happier.

First and formost, try your local Eclipse dealer and see if they have what you are looking for. I know mine bought up a bunch of '05 8v decks and had the 8445 for $350.

Online options include SD, Crutch, Cartoys.com and Tweeter.com (select products ship with warranty).

Check out the new Pioneer 780,7800, 980, or 9800. They're $100 off at Crutchfields. The 7800 is going for $319 and the 9800 is going for $449. Great deals considering what I paid when they first came out. But I'm loving the 16 band Eq and awesome display.

i like my 7998 =], but if you're in need of a deck right away, look into the pioneer models, or some of the alpine models that are currently out, you're bound to find something that will fit your needs
