Do you really need a receiver, or will an integrated amp work for you?

I'd look for NAD, Rotel, Marantz, Adcom...no need in buying a receiver if you don't have plans to listen to FM radio.

just have two shelf speakers and a small non powered sub sitting here and i need something to hook them to my tv....

Doesn't sound like you need a receiver, but you might find something cheap.
