Need a 10" for a small ported box

incorrect... i had alpine type r 12 at i couldn't even hear it in a small box... go SE if you want loud.... se's can handle 800 daily, i don't know wut ur talking about

The R is *not* a sealed box woofer... its also not a "small" box ported woofer.

The 10" R is the perfect woof for this applicatoin, it will love this box.

Note I said 600 actual watts, thats the 10"SE, getting 700 MEASURED watts and it cries @ that power.

If you had your 12 on an 800 watt amp, you are likely seeing much less power due to impedence and voltage drop, depends on amp.

You guys worry way too much about power handling. The SE can get going with 300 watts and take 800 as well and get very loud and I am sure the Type R can as well. The important thing is how the sub sounds and how loud it gets with the power going to it. If the SE can get just as loud with 400 watts as other subs can with 800 watts then that is a huge bonus.....not a drawback. Efficiency is good. Power handling is more important when you want to burp a sub at 55hz for 2 seconds but for daily driving it is not as important.

RE recommends 1.25 cubes ported, tuned to 32hz for sql. Is this a reasonable size enclosure if I'm only running 600watts? Should I go slightly larger and tune it differently?
