Need 12 Inch SQ Sub To Replace BA G3

Thanks for the comparison Zako. If the used gti doesn't come in I might just give the 15" gti a try. It's just that at 50 lbs man is that a heavy sub! Big too. Heck the 12 inch is still 41 lbs. It would be cool if I could find a used Gcon or icon so I could do a comparison.

I just got a 10" Boston G3 in a .5 cu sealed enclosure. While it is good it doesn't seem have the SQ of an IDMAX I just sold, nor that of a Boston G5 I had years ago. I am using a JL 500/1.
I also think I want to go to a 12 inch sub. So...I am looking for an SQ sub, sealed box only, to replace the Boston G3. I am looking at:

Dayton HO

IDQ V3

SSA DCON/GCON

Which of these would have the tightest, sound that blends well with the front stage? I want to keep the box at about 1 cu ft. Any other subs I should look at? Budget about $250 or less.

Since I'm about to install a G3, I'm curious as to what you didn't like about yours.

For the price I got it for from Crutchfield, it is an excellent bargain. But since I am coming from an Idmax 10, maybe it doesn't seem to quite sound as good. I just want maybe a little more tightness and low end. The G3 doesn't have the same impact or sound that I remember from a G5 I once had. At minimum, I think I want to be in an IDQ, an IDMAX 12, JBL GTi or 12W6V2. I want an SQ monster.

Well I did get the JBL 12GTi. So far on initial impressions.....I gotta admit it's as good as everyone says. I have tried a Boston G3, my ARC 10 and now the GTi. The Arc was quite a bit better than the G3, that's even with a ripped cone. So much so that I just took the G3 out of the car and packed it up to return it. The ARC was tighter and blended well with the frontstage. The G3 and the ARC were both in a .5 cu sealed box. Now..... The GTi blended even better with the front stage while being tight throughout the full range.....deep bass to upper bass. Of course with more authority, but then again it's a 12 compared to the 10's. I only have it in a 1 cu ft sealed box. I am sure it would shine even more with a larger box about 1.2-1.5 sealed, but I am trying to preserve as much trunk space as possible. I like it so much that I might even consider a 15GTi, if I see one around cheap enough.
