Mystery problem.

I've posted this a few weeks ago, but let me just bring everyone up to speed on whats going on. I recieved a custom made SPKRMAN box in the mail. I threw it in real quick, hooked the amp up mounted it to the back of the rear seats, and it bumped, slammed..etc. Im driving around town one night bumping and the bass stops. It makes a real faint popping sound even when my HU volume is all the way down. I thought i blew the sub or somthing, so it goes back to being normal, and the next day I moved the amp to the side of the box, and tossed a couple of neons on it, one under, one above. I hook everything back up, and play my new favorite song "Dont phunk with my heart".

IT slams for about 20 seconds, and then the bass stops. I'm like oh shit. the amp must be in protect or somthing. I investegate, and the 120amp ANL fuse is blown. I'm like SHIT. So I run to circuit city to buy one, becuz i dont feel like driving 1/2hr to the stereo shop i deal with, and get ***** anally for an anl fuse, like 12.00. I put it in, and it sparks while its in my hand, and blows instantly. So I give the stereo shop a call, and he orders some ANL's for me for like .75 a piece, and says come up tomorrow. I go up, he checks everything out. checks for shorts with his multimeter, and then says that there are no shorts. He put the fuse in and then hooked up the amp, he said it's not getting any power. I go "The fuse is cooked". He then says that there could be an internal problem within the amp. I pack up the amp and send it back to ED.

I spoke to Jeremy today and he said he had it running fine at 2 ohms and it was putting out about 8-900 watts and he had no problems with it. He told me he's gonna test it at 1 ohm just for the hell of it, and hes gonna make sure there are no other problems with it.

Heres my question. If the amp is not damaged at all, and he sends it back to me in 100% working condition are there any other things i should look at. Im running Mobilespec 0ga wire and using tsunami line reducers to plug into the amp..It's a 1997 Monte Carlo Z34 too....wire was professionally installed since I sux at running wire. Any Help? Anyone?

Sounds like you're grounding out somewhere to me... I'd try putting in a fuse since you get them for like .75 without the amp hooked up and see if it pops or not.

Maybe someone else can answer this, or maybe I'm just ignorant and not thinking right now. But how do you check a wire to see if it's grounding out with a dmm? because I don't think I've saw that done before.

Yeah, sounds like the wire is shorting out. With the amp disconnected and the fuse pulled, set the DMM to measure resistance and stick the leads on the power and ground wires. If there is any resistance measured then there is a short somewhere in the wire.
