After bumpin' for like 45-50 mins at max they start to smell tangy but you have to put your nose to the port to smell this...I set the Gains with a DDM and i used a 50hz -3db tone. I have a Alpine MRP-M1000 Amp and (2) Type R's Wired to 2 ohms. I set the volt to 46.7 and the chart said to set it to 46.9, I have the Bass boost way down its not all the down but almost.

my *** smells tangy after a long day at work. But on the real.most smaller coils will start to smell over a prolonged aamount time, especially if your playin below tuning freq. may be the wood itself giving off smells as the subs heat up in the box

Yeah, I just don't wanna screw my shit up, they are still pretty new like 15-25 hours of playing. Could it just be that they are newer?

So how bad would they have to clip to blow, would i smell it in the cabin of the car? Sorry, but im still a noob //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

yeah u will definitely smell a type R from the driver's seat. They reek like burnt coils so don't worry.

And best of all, instant cheap recones. $98 gets you a brand new woofer:)
