my type r dont pound

Maybe it's your bad grammar. Or it could be the lack of punctuation. That will cause you to lose 10db right there.

ok kid.

did you install the jumpers on the subwoofer terminals? because im going to guess that you didnt, and that you only hooked the amp up to one + and one -, and the other two are just sitting there. your amp is only seeing a 4ohm load.

so awnser the questions;

1. you only have one alpine type R, dual 4 ohm speaker - correct? model "Type-R SWR-1242D" - one 12" dual 4 ohm subwoofer.

2. what did you do with the tiny little jumper plugs that came with the speaker. are you using them?

3. did you plug in one SET of speaker wires (thats two individual wires, one + and one -) to the amp and the speaker, and then install it?

maybe we can help if you awnser those in a logical fashion.

From what I've translated:

- Hooked up stereo, to one channel.

- 550 RMS on the amp. So slice that to 225 because it's not bridged. Also, that rating may be given at 2ohm bridged, so the sub may actually just be seeing 125 watts. AND, if he's wired it at 8 ohm, well then he might as well be running it off the head unit.

-We don't know if the box is ported or sealed. Heck, we don't even know if it's in a box.

is a 2ohm type-r better that a 4ohm type-R? if you can wire the 2ohm to 1ohm or 4 ohms, rather than for the 4ohm at 2 or 4ohm. What sub would hit harder? i want to run a hifonics bx1500d (specs)

1 x 500 Watts @ 4 Ohms

1 x 1000 Watts @ 2 Ohms

1 x 1500 Watts @ 1 Ohms '

if i buy the 2ohm subs i can bridege the amp at 1ohm there for running the subs at 750 each. is this correct. I am completely new to car audio and im just trying to find an amp that will put out about 700w to each sub. Can comeone help or give me an amp suggestion?

The 2 ohm and 4 ohm models are identical, they just have a different electrical resistance. As for the amp, I think it's a mono amp, so you won't need to bridge anything... What you want to do is take the 2 ohm Type-R, and wire it in parallel down to 1 ohm, and you'll get the most out of it. That should pound.

But you seem to be talking about two of them, and in this case, get two of the 4 ohm models, and wire them both in parallel together for a 1 ohm load that way.

type R and a BX1500D? Run a D4 @ 2ohms 1000watts will get it as loud a a real sub running 500 watts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you are goign to use one sub, get a Dual 2 ohm sub. A dual 2ohm subwoofer can be wired to 1 or 4ohms.

If you are getting two subs, buy Dual 4 ohm subs. Two Dual 4ohm Subs can be wired to 4 or 1 ohm.

Check and see if there are any forum members nearby who are willing to ehlp you out for free, that would be a good start if you can find someone who is semi-intelligent in the car audio field.
