It's actually about 1 1/2" - 2" from the midrange driver. That was the most convenient place and it actually sounds good there. I experimented with the tweeter and that's what sounded best //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifinteresting mount point for that tweeter...
The box is made of 3/4" mdf. It has a double front baffle and has a good amount of bracing. They are very loud, can't listen to it turned up for more than a few seconds. I know they would be a lot louder if they were in an suv or a hatchback. The seats in the back of my car are a good 4-6" thick, so that absorbs a lot of the sound. I think that's what I lot of people don't understand. They do move a lot of air. I can feel it and it shakes stuff up. Almost the entire trunk is deadened. I need to get up under the dash near my rear speakers and deaden that area. There are still a shitload of rattles from there. There's about 3 layers of secondskin on the lid and that doesn't rattle much at all. Overall I've used probably about 80 sq feet. The viper 2500 does draw a lot of power. My alternator is a stock 135 amp so it handles it fairly well except for really hard bass hits. I have a 250 amp alternator that's going in on Saturday.couple questions and comments.
for two 15 xxx's i would imagine that youre box is HIGHLY rigid im talking about 1 inch HDF double front baffle etc.
Viper 2500 thats s LOT of power i would imagine thats a HUGE strain on youre car electrical, do you got a HO alternator?
You said the 15's are LOUD? i would expect those to **** the living shit out of you something doesent sound right.
The output must be TREMENDOUS with those how much deadning did you use, wich, how does is it sound now?
How do the dynaudio's sound? give us some insight.
Yeah they do have an extra compartment sort of thing. That's where my component amp and crossovers are. I couldn't get any pics of that though, it's behind the subs lol.dam that 7 cube box fits in there like if its nothing. I thought Crown Vics had some weird shaped trunks that had a step or sumthing. It looks really good though. I wouldnt mind driving it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. Put some rims on it to complete the scrapper.
