Hello. Recenly got a new car and had to promptly put a stereo in. I picked up some new front and rear speakers, and head unit. The amps and subs have served well in four vehicles over SEVERAL years. How does the combo below seem to you? Is 37.5 enough for a Kappa to really perform? (probably have tuning to do) Since I could use the space, is there a single 12" that would deliver as good / better than the pair of 10s? Would you recommend a capacitor? If so, which one? Other feedback? I feel kinda rusty having not done this in 4 years...

Excelon head unit 5v

MTX 4300 - 37.5x4

front - Kappa 6.5 3-way

rear - kappa 6x9 3-way

MTX 2150 - 430x1?

pair of Boston 10" 2 ohm

-Pro series? best they had then

Thanx

37 watts of clean power should be more than enuff

depends on the 12 you have in mind... they do have 12s that have the potential to be louder than those 2 boston 10s, then again with the right box and power those 10s have the potential to get louder than alot of 12s...

most people will agree that your wasting your time with a cap... first do the big 3 then if your still having electrical problems a new HO alt may be needed

the boston 10s are sexy... very nice subs

if i remember correctly those subs can take alot more power than that mtx can throw at it... what were the previous box specs?

Box specs on the subs? 1000 maybe. I remember it was more than double what I could give them.

Didn't really have a 12 in mind. Just small box space and output similar to the 10s. I don't want to go backward with the bass. ;-) What type of box and power would you recommend to get the most out of the Bostons? Currently the 10s are in a sealed box with a 1cf enclosure each.

Don't really have a problem with power so I won't worry about that. I was more fishing to see if things have changed. I didn't buy into them 5 years ago...

i think the rms on those subs are 1200 per sub you'd probably be better off getting a higher power amp and really seeing what they're capable of... i can't find any box recommendation specs on them but your box should be ok

things have changed it seems to me every year car audio goes downhill i'd personally keep those subs as long as you can

Now to search for a good high power amp... Any recomendations?

:) Now we start the fun. If I pull another amp, what do I do with the 2150? Possibly switch the 4300 to a bridged 2 channel to drive the fronts. Then drive the rears with the 2150. Ah... power. What to do?
