Scroll down for pictures, or read the story of how I got here, feedback greatly appreciated....
The car is a 2006 Acura RSX bought in October of 2005 so I've only had it a year and a half. Always had a liking for nice sound over loudness and had the basics in my previous cars but with this one I was looking for more.
Originally started off with:
LOC; eDi 6000s; NINe.4; eu700s (2) running IB in the rear speakers spots.
It sounded tons better than the stock, but I wasn't satisfied, so I upgraded to an Eclipse CD3000 HU which I liked, but felt the low end was still lacking. I moved my eu700s into small boxes in the hatch which helped, but again lacking. I sold those off and got a 13Kv.2 and through that in a box.
Moved onto:
Kenwood eXcelon x790; eDi 6500s; 13Kv.2; NINe.2 (2)
I actually couldn't stand my CD3000. You had to ever so slightly twist/turn the right knob to advance tracks, very very picky. Took a leap with the Kenwood eXcelon x790 and fell in love with it. I bought tons o' eDead and covered my hatch, doors, and rear panels with deadening. Upgraded the comps to the higher end 6500s, and went from a 4 channel to dedicated amps for the comps and sub. But still wasn't loving it. I wasn't getting anywhere with eD, but in my business with them, I had no problems.
Next tried:
Kenwood eXcelon x979; PG Ti Elite 6s; MB Quart 4200; SS RL-p 12
Decided to start over and sold all the eD equipment. Found this website and went with the PG comps and MB Quart amp. My x790 froze up and I knew I had to try the x979 and all of the incredible options it had. Only had the MB Quart for a few days before I jumped on a Kicker SX900.4 which has the DSP and combining that with the x979 I could tweak for hours and hours. The PG comps didn't last too long, they had a nice high end but didn't punch the mids as well as I'd like. Which brings us to today....
The (hopefully) final setup:
Kenwood XXV-01d; Rainbow CS 465.25 Germanium; Memphis Belle 16-MC1300d; Diamond Audio D6 10" (2)
Picked up two pairs of Germs to run dual mids, already sold the tweeters from the second set. Then found the Belle for a price I couldn't pass up and it'd power up the Germs ever so nicely and I'd still have 1100w on the sub channel to use. Well this led to the conclusion that one RL-p wasn't going to do it and after looking over BJ Fisher's boxes in the Enclosures thread I knew I wanted to go ported. After all I drive a hatch why not go with the CRX style box, subs up/port back. Really wanted to try Diamond Audio D6s so I went with those and picked up the 25th Anniversary Kenwood over the weekend.
And without further ado....
It comes THIS close to touching the hatch's privacy cover, but luckily slants up and away from the subs which are flushmounted anyways

So five HUs, five sets of comps, five different amps, and four different subs later, I'm satisfied. Feedback please...
