OK here's what i've got in my 1980 fleetwood brougham:
Memphis 1000D (1000W amp) pushing two 15" JL Audio W3s.
Memphis 16-MC3004 (75x4 amp) pushing two 4x6 Memphis M Class coaxs in the front dash, two 6.5" Memphis M class synchonous components in the front doors, and two Memphis M class 6x9" coaxes in the back deck. it's wired so the front left is on a channel (one 6.5" and one 4x6), the front right on a channel (one 6.5" and one 4x6) and the two 6x9s at the back are each on a channel too.
now the 300w 4 channel amp was put in today, and to tell you the truth i don't notice a difference at all. before it, i was running off the head unit (Pioneer deh-350). the "loudness" (volume) is almost exactly the same, i really can't notice a difference, even with the gains on the amp turned almost all the way up. the headunit settings are the same (although i've tried messing with them) but no avail
My friend has two boston acoustic Z6s (6.5" components) in his truck, and those are the ONLY two speakers he has, running off a JL 300W amp, (150w/channel i assume). those things get LOUD. he's got the same headunit i have, and when his volume's on 22/60, it's about the same volume as when mine's on 40/60.
obviously the Z6s are better than the Memphis Ms, but i've got 6 speakers, and he's got two, and the Memphis M-class speakers are pretty impressive nonetheless... clarity i've got enough of... what can i do for VOLUME. i want to get LOUD without having to max out my headunit
