I just got the setup.

It makes a poping noise at high volumes. I thought it was blown or whatever it still bumps loud but it makes a poping noise. what can it be I just bought the woofers from soundomain and got the orion 2500d and I setup the gains to the correct voltage

man this sucks what can I do return to cardomain or what.. confused //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

It made this noise today and it went away and it came back again I know its not normal because it didn't do this till today until I put all the way to the max.

I heat cycle the subwoofer and didn't baby it I turned it up around 80% with gain pretty low no clipping and shit.

should have broken it in first. sure your box is absolutely sealed tight and more specifically the sub is in tight with no leaks around it? mine made a funny sound along with the bass at high volumes until i siliconed it in the box. put in on a smaller amp with the gain down and run it outside the box and see if you can see the the tensil slapping. the leads are woven in the spider but there is enough of it coming from the tensil leads for it to be hitting the cone

Does it stop making the popping sound if you apply pressure with your hand/finger tips to the dust cap and or cone? It sounds like you and I could have the same problem.

Popping as in crackling or popping as in the they are being overpowered/clipped/airleak?

lol

Pretty much, clipping, air leak, and overexcursion the sub sounds very similar. If its a crackling then check all the connections, if you unplug the RCA's while the sub is on thats the cracking im talking about.

ive blown 2 id max's, decided to screw dealing with their subs, my blown one is sitting at idmax headquarters and they are wanting 160 to fix it for the 2nd time ive already spent 350 on the sub and figured why keep wasting my money and got a different sub...make SURE that your gains set correctly and that you do not have bass boost on...also make sure you are not over powering it, when i did this the surround rubber made a bend or crimp when it reached max excursion and made a poping noise as well, that might be it...these subs are extra sensitive if u dont take it easy it will blow atleast 2 times easier!!

what do u mean put all the way to the max? you turned the volume real high? whats heat cycle?

oh really, when i first started here in this forum, pple told me to push down on the cone to see if there is any noise. I guess ill stop doin that then...
u can do it to see if the voice coils are blown or something, if when u press it down and it makes a scratchy noise they r prob. blown, but i guess its iight to do if u think u blew it

LOL I found the problem.

The negative wire on the post inside the enclosure was loose. It moved when hard bass hit and sparked. I soldered that beyotch down and all is well. The reason it stopped when I pushed lightly on the sub is that the sub wasn't moving as far and wasn't causing enough rattle to jiggle the wire.
