Just wanted to send out a general "thank you" to all of the posters on here who take the time to help out the newbies and amateurs trying to do things on their own.
Before this, all I had ever done relating to car audio was help a buddy install a head unit...and when I say "help", I mean drink beer while he installed it.
Here is what I put in:
Eclipse 5510 (with Ipod adapter, sirius and bluetooth) ($1,399 - crutchfield)
Single Stereo Integrity BM10 ($180 - car audio classieds)
QLogic box for f150 ($179 - cardomain.com)
Sundown SAE 1000d ($285 - low-hz.com)
Rainbow SLC 265 components ($230 - 6spdcoupe)
Sundown SAX 100.2 ($250 - low-hz.com)
4 gauge amp install kit ($49.88 - knukonceptz.com)
Raamaat sound deadener (being shipped no...to be installed soon)
Anyway, the install took me a while. I mounted both amps to some 3/4" MDF (I had never even used a jigsaw) which I mounted to the back wall of the truck (options are limited for lack of space). The sub sits under the back seat on the passenger side. I used 1/2" MDF for the component baffles.
I took my time with everything, and ran into a few speedbumps along the way, but everything is in and tuned.
The system sounds unbelievably good. I know that I didn't go high end on anything, but I did a lot of research and tried to choose high quality brands. Also, I wasn't brave enough to try to build my own box, but the Q-logic box is sufficient for my needs. The rainbows get so loud that I can't even really handle high volumes for more than a few minutes. The HD10 is putting out really clean, tight bass. One 10" sub obviously isn't knocking down any walls, but the sound quality is outstanding, and in the small cab, it works really well. The Sundown amps are great! The tuning was easy (after investing countless hours reading on this forum), and I was able to ask questions directly to Jacob at Sundown and Ben at Low-hz.com (and this was during his problems on this site).
I used this forum as a reference for every step of the intallation process, and there wasn't one question that I was not able to find the answer for. I would strongly recommend each of the companies that I bought from, both for quality and service.
Basically, I just wanted to let everyone know what a great service you are providing. I had a lot of fun installing everything, and now I have a great sounding system in my truck.
