1 amp at idle? You won't be going very far with that amperage.

I hope your not going very far at IDLE numbnuts!! It's not a big deal if you don't jam your stereo vey long while idling, which I don't. Besides I can (litteraly) touch the gas and be at 3000+ rpms. 1600rpm---> 1.2 amps

1800rpm---> 1.1 amps

2000rpm---> 1.1 amps

2500rpm---> 37 amps

3000rpm---> 74 amps

4000rpm---> 121.2 amps

5000rpm---> 144.1 amps

6000rpm---> 156.1 amps

7000rpm---> 163.6 amps

8000rpm---> 168 amps

turn on speed 2000rpm

regulator activation speed 1100rpm

I would think it would depend on the car and the alt size (or the pully size on the alt).

its gonna differ with the different sized pulleys on the alt and the crankshaft pulley

crankshaft pulley diameter / alt pulley diameter = how many times faster the alt spins than the engine RPM. My engine has a ~6" pulley on the crankshaft, and a 2" pulley on the alt (couldnt measure the crankshaft pulley very well due to location) My alt spins roughly 3x as fast as the engine does.
